There! DONE!

okay, so its been about a year since the previous version went live.

in the past year i've spend my time mainly working, partying and coding.
now the new version of TeknoRadio is complete.
i was unable to add all the features i wanted but they're easily to add in the near future.

i had to do a 90% rewrite of the code because i ran into problems that just did not allow me to finish the job ever.
now the code that's running TeknoRadio has been improved, updated and made ready for additions of any sort.

within the next few days expect downtime to TeknoRadio, As we will be switching to the new version.
because we will have to change servers as well the music server will be going down together with the site.

REQUESTS ARE POSSIBLE AGAIN in the new version.
and the HIGH STREAM will be open again.

There probably are some bugs. but there will be a good working bug report form on the new website version and i would like to ask all of you to use that every time you see one.
I will put my effort in there to fix them all and i will continue working on more additional features for TeknoRadio.

(new) projects are getting ready...

Some time ago there was a idea to set up a livestream for events so that people can follow the event
(concert, DJ set) live on the internet. Well this idea is finally getting shape.

Most of the time the nearest internet connection is some distance away from the live event, so you've
got to set up a wireless network that can build a network bridge between the computers at the live event
and this nearest internet connection. This is necessary to stream the audio on the internet.

So.... We've bought some nice stuff :) .
Two Parabolic Grid antennas:

Four Sector antennas:

And a Slotted Waveguide antenna:

With this antennas it is possible to set up a wireless bridge for about 15 km. So we can provide
livestreaming for a event with the nearest internet connection 15 km away :)

At the moment I'm testing the antennas so they will be ready for use at the first event we will be
streaming.
So the people off TeknoRadio are coming out from they're caves and holes under the ground? Yes they
are!
We will be at the Villa Friekens Festival at Amsterdam from 16 till 18 May 2008 streaming it live on the internet.

O I almost forgot to say.......
For a long time we've said that we are busy, busy.... and... busy... with getting a new server. It is finally
getting ready!
We're now renting a server that is located at a datacenter. DaxAra is at the moment setting this nice
thing up to get it ready for action. This new server has already a name but we keep this secret until
the work is done and we take our time to get it good and stable running from the start.

So most of you were brave enough to register yourself at this website.
After you login then..... well there was nothing extra :P
There is a new website version coming out, DaxAra already told that at a earlier post. This new version has
some nice new options for members.

again, A liitle insight

Since its been a while since the last update i decided to give you people a new update on what we're doing right now.
At this moment I've sort of rearranged my computers for max ease in development ^^

the new version of the website is not going to be much different to the current when it comes to layout.
However I've had to rewrite 99% of the code that makes it run.
The new version should be able to respond better with large numbers of users and will be more user-friendly.
of course there's also some added eye-candy to the whole site.
The TeknoRadio Player I've created in the past will disappear as i don't feel a need to fix the problems in the current one.

I'm currently working on the last rewrites and planned features to the StreamServer -> Website communication program.
Features such as the requesting of sons and login to the high stream will be fixed in the new version.

This year TeknoRadio will undergo some changes.
the request feature will be enabled and we'll try to make TeknoRadio more accessible to people.

A little insight

We are currently making the final preparations for a server move.
The current location is my room and that gave some problems of itself.
other than that we were restricted by network-policy to make certain changes.

We decided to go rental!! meaning that we will rent a server commercially and will actually have to pay for the little sweet machine.
This is the reason we have put banners on the website.
You can expect a few changes when we moved to the new server.
one of them includes a new build of the CMS system we are using.
The current version is 0.14.1, however on the new server version 0.17.x will be installed.
since i'm the sole developer of the cms system i can tell that 0.17 will be a 1.0 when the bugs are solved.

One thing i would like to point out; there may be banners (to cover costs), but listening to the station will remain free..
